In this lesson, we were introduced to colour theory by doing a therapeutic painting exercise. We were expected to bring a collection of abstract art, landscapes and seascapes and to recreate the same colours onto a 3″ by 6″ composition. Then we were given the task to create a colour palette by trying to visualise the palette of the artist of the chosen picture.
It was a therapeutic exercise which helped me develop my patience and at the same time taught me how to experiment with colours to create the desired outcome as the image. In the lesson, we were also taught the colour wheel, the concepts of complementary colours, split complementary colours and were instructed to experiment with them. I made a composition using the two complementary colours- orange and blue.
