Drawing Week 9

This drawing lesson was a continuation In the exploration of colour theory. In this lesson, I understood that with the increase in the complexity in the use of colours we can see the increase in the civilisation of society. I also understood how to change the tonal value of colours by adding black and white to make it a darker or a lighter shade respectively. I felt that through the assignment, I learnt the importance of how colours can influence the psychology of people and can persuade them to do desired actions. I realised that a clear understanding of colour helps in the understanding of the visual psychology of customers and is an essential element in brand building.
The assignment given to us was to create a grayscale with poster colours and to stick it up into the centre of the page. After doing so, we were supposed to use three warm colours and three cool colours on each side of the grayscale and were assigned to try and match the tonal value of the colour with respect to the tonal value on the grayscale. It was a tough exercise for me as I was not accustomed to the correct methods of painting. I also realised that I made an error while putting colours next to black in the grayscale. No colour can be as dark as black and no colour can be as light as white.
