Imaging Semester 2, Week 1

In the following Imaging class, we were given a recap on the basics of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. In the following class, we were assigned to design a poster on any one of the movies directed by Tim Burton. I decided to recreate a poster on the movie based on Roald Dahl’s book “Charlie and the chocolate factory”. I believe that in the movie the main aspects were the character Willy Wonka himself and the golden ticket that allowed Charlie to visit Willy Wonka’s famous chocolate factory. Therefore I represented those aspects in my poster. I tried to stick to the Gestalt Principles of the law of Similarity and Continuity in my poster by using the shape of an ellipse. In this lesson, I learnt that I needed to initiate myself to start a lot of self-learning and exploring more uses of the two software and to start maximising and exploiting each of their capabilities to the fullest. I needed to also start building up and developing my aesthetic sense as I believe that I lack a bit in that and that my execution needs a lot more polishing and needs to increase in complexity level.
