Imaging Semester 2 Week 2

In the following Imaging Lecture, We began Exploring the Adobe Software Indesign. This Software is primarily used for managing and creating typography, layouts, and is extensively used in publication design for print and digital media. In this lesson, we were introduced to the interface and were briefed on the capabilities of the software. We were instructed to keep in mind gestalt principles while creating any layouts and were taught concepts such as a bleed and slug. A bleed is one which helps foster edge to edge printing in publication design. A slug is an area outside the printing that needs to be cut out/ or could be used to give information to the printer post-printing about what to do with the given portion of the area. In this lesson, we were told to explore and create 4-5 different layouts with different themes.
At first, I was just trying to get a hang of the capabilities of the software and therefore my designs were very raw and unfinished with an incomplete understanding of typography and layouts that were possible. Later on the class, I was trying to create poster designs to create a few slides for a digital magazine starring some of my favourite artists in the music industry. I tried to keep in mind digital trends and tried to recreate something similar using Photoshop and Illustrator and then was planning on importing those into InDesign and adding additional typography.
