Work Instructed: In the following Imaging Class, We were instructed to continue to work on the layouts of our final print booklet.
Process: In the following class I started with the digitizing process using elements of the thumbnails that i had created previously. I started by using cam scanner to scan my pictures and give me a good quality file to work with and then went on to illustrator and started correcting my strokes after an image trace and a few other tools to edit and refine the content that i had created by hand
Critical Reflections: While doing the task at hand I had a few challenges when it came to my digital work, Firstly I was having difficulties to settle on the software to work with as I had to complete many tasks simultaneously such as making illustrations and at the same time editing parts of the work that I did not need in the layout.
Therefore I believe herein I wasted a lot of time shuffling back and forth with Illustrator and Photoshop respectively. I also had to go through a time consuming process of refining broken lines and paths in my illustration as the visual language in my drawings and my digital renderings were visually communicating two different stories.
This I tried to Overcome by finalizing the style and tone of my book. I decided that I was going to stick with a loose and childlike style that sort of ties up the entire core of my book. My leanings from the process were that now not only did i have to focus on my digital skills but I would also have to refine my drawing and composition skills to make visuals that inculcate gestalt principles and have a balanced composition rather than singular elements.
