Work Instructed: In the following Class, We were to continue with the work on our final print booklet for the review in the 8th week.
Process: During this particular class, I was focused more on creating the textual layout and the placement of the illustrations that i had digitized in the previous imaging class. I had began the process by looking at YouTube videos from the design based channels of futur and flux on how to create good layouts and which fonts are best to pair together to create an interesting book.
Critical Reflections: While following the process mentioned above, I realized that the knowledge imparted by both my mentor Jai Sir as well as YouTube experts was easier said than done and that in practice its much tougher to actually work with it in different contexts. I had tried to inculcate Gestalt Principles to some decree in my work but still my composition was looking more like elements in a page rather than a whole, this I hope to learn by practicing and observing more . I also made a few critical graphical blunders while creating my main cover page and then understood the importance of text hierarchies.
During the process I also discovered that alignments in texts were difficult to understand even with the help of guides and grids and that my composition looked totally different during a print preview. In the process I also learned that next time I should create a layout on paper and take the measurements of each area before creating the illustrations as then the rescaling of each element in the causes it to pixelate and its form is completely different from what I pictured while creating it.
