Teachings: In the following Objects as History Class, We were taught about the ancient Greece civilization and their domination over the Mediterranean regions. They pioneered in philosophy and their works are divided into two main categories : Pre-Socratic and Socratic Era. We learned the concept of a city state and how trading can lead to exchange of cultures and create global civilisations
Critical Reflections: The following class had me thinking about the importance of how Human communication can develop and cultivate relations that lead to exchange of trade and cultures and the formation of global civilizations. I understood that without communication and relations all civilizations will cease to exist and function. The Greeks who were termed as a “city state” population had the power of a state although it was the size of a city. According to me this could only have been achieved through effective communication, mutual cooperation and people having tolerance for different cultures and were coexisting in peace and harmony.
