I was assigned the time period between 1936-1950, and was given the task to watch the films: “Babul”, “Mela”, “Miss Frontier Mail”, “Achhut Kannya” and “Sikandar”.

Critical Reflections: In the following class I had re-watched the film Harishchandrachi Factory, In this class I learnt how to dissect a film down to its crux. I learnt how to observe and understand and discuss among peers the implications of every minor detail in the film and it’s importance, to ask questions and get into the directors mind into understanding the significance of each component of the film. I started to look at things such as The background, The societal setting, The costume design, The language used, The tone in which the film was shot,The character’s roles and the plot and how the story-line conveyed the underlying message of the film.
