Work Assigned: In the following Integrative Studio class, we were assigned to start creating a 5inch by 5inch light box prototype.
Process: In the following class firstly I started of by teaching myself how to create a 5 sided cube using ivory sheets. The following was a time consuming process as my material handling skills were terrible. I couldn’t cut properly, measure correctly and i made a few fatal mistakes while trying to make it the first time. I then tried again by starting from scratch and creating it. This time it worked, but while using the exact o knife I was not able to create the precision cuts that I had wanted, I then tore the paper halfway and created very untidy unfinished cuts.
Reflections: In the following class I realized that I really needed to start working upon my basic material handling skills such as applying glue, cutting paper, learning how to apply the right pressure and movements for the blades in order to cut properly. I also needed begin on understanding and creating a plan on how to make basic shapes such as cubes and measure dimensions correctly to get the desired output.
