Objects As History Week 10

Teachings: In the following Objects as History Class, we were explained a simple timeline regarding the entire course that we were being taught till date. We had discussed Arthashastra, The Janpadas and the Mahajanpadas and about the sea peoples and the late bronze age collapse. We also learned the difference between “dark ages” a common occurence throughout history and “Dark Ages” the one that refers to Britain.

Reflections: I was really interested about the theory behind the sea peoples during this class as it was a very largely debated mysterious topic. It made me wonder about its causes because I really could not buy the story that a large group of people just came out of the sea out of nowhere wiped out civilizations and vanished . It was not long until then that the global pandemic the corona-virus had begun. It made me wonder whether the sea peoples must have been a fictional theory or whether a global pandemic must have spread across the globe at that point in time. Some gaps in history did not make sense and my faculty too was deeply interested in this particular occurrence.
