Teachings and Work Assigned: In the following class, we were assigned to start creating 6 mind maps for 6 objects relating to our streams. We were taught about the Egyptian Civilizations, their beliefs relating to the origins of time and their Gods and Mythological Creatures. We learnt about Osiris, Set and about the Maat and Pharoahs. We were also told about Faience- Glazed Ceramic in Blue green color and The sacred dung beetle used for mummification. We also learnt about Isis Horus and Nepthys and about paper originating from the material papyrus.
Process and Reflections: In the following Objects as History Class, I had looked at the Lantern Shield as my object. This was a defective design used in the early months of the Italian Renaissance, I had created a mind map trying to concise the information regarding the same. In this particular class, I learnt that the process of making design interventions was not easy as we need to physically feel and use the ancient objects in order to understand its drawbacks. Although there are articles that talk about the same it is easy to find faults but it is difficult to find design interventions as there is a lot of background research to be done on the type of technologies available at that point in time at that particular region.
